We just received this fabulous snap from two very warm Lily & Albert customers, Ellie and Katherine. Sporting their Cast in Stone hand knitted cable cardigan and Crew neck, these two didn't need to worry about the icy winds on the Sandbanks coast. Lily & Albert to the rescue once again...
Today we stumbled across a great company called The Weekenders; A travel site that embraces the UK short break, sharing an abundance of beautiful UK retreats for anyone looking for a weekend away...and at this time of year, isn't that all of us!? We think there is nothing better than a weekend at the seaside and the British coast has a lot to offer. With it's beautiful beaches and crisp sea air it is an ideal place for wearing a Lily & Albert cardigan! We enjoyed a pre Christmas break in Winchelsea in Sussex and for a walk along Camber Sands, the lambswool shawl and Cast in Stone cable knit cardigan were the perfect wrap ups.
We just stumbled across a few photos from an experimental shoot we did a while ago. Taken by the talented graduates Hannah McCabe and Danniilis Galickis. Thought we could all do with a bit of Winter glare to gaze at on a pretty miserable January day...
We just recieved this wonderful photo from one of our recent Lily & Albert owners. Gabriella got her Old Sea Dog hoodie as a gift this Christmas and it was perfect for apres ski in Verbier! That Father Christmas does have good taste!

We're a big fan of Gareth Malone and have loved his previous choir projects such as 'Unsung Town', 'Boys don't sing' and 'Gareth Malone goes to Glyndebourne', but this has to be his biggest accomplishment yet. In the fourth series of BBC2's The Choir, Gareth formed The Military Wives Choir to give the wives and girlfriends an opportunity to shine and to help them through the tough time of separation they all go through while their husbands/partners are deported for tour of duty in Afghanistan. The series ended with an amazing performance of Wherever You Are in the Royal Albert Hall at the Festival of Remembrance. The song is by Royal Wedding composer Paul Mealor and the lyrics are formed from letters to and from the service men and their wives on a 6 month tour of duty in Afghanistan. Tissues at the ready! The recording has now been made into a charity single and you can pre order it here to get it to Christmas number 1! What better way to support the troops. We also couldn't help but notice Gareth's knitted Old Sea dog hoodie lookalike in the video!
We saw lots of Lily & Albert cardigans at the Sunninghill Street Fayre on Sunday and they weren't just the one's hanging on our stall! Last years customers came back to show us how much they still loved their cardigans, proving a Lily & Albert cardigan is a timeless investment and theirs are still going strong a year on! These are just two of the customers we managed to pap! Thanks Sarah and Sasha - We love!

Fellow knitwear company Lowie joined forces with Lily & Albert at this years Aussie Kiss Windsurfing festival in Cornwall. After three days on the water, some knitted woollen goods were just what the student windsurfers needed making it a huge success! Big thank you to our sales reps Lisa and Georgie!
In keeping with the Wintery black and white theme...we just received this stunning photo from one of our customers, Louise, in her Cast in Stone hand knit cardigan. We love!

We're big fans of Lucy Rose's single 'Middle of the Bed' and couldn't help but notice her love of knitwear...we think she'd look great in a Cast in Stone crew neck jumper this Autumn....
We're loving Stylist Magazine's recent photo shoot on Crochet and Hand Crafted pieces...goes hand in hand with our Cast in Cotton and Cotton & Cloud collections...
Zoe proving yet again that the Cast in Stone Zip up cardigan is a timeless all-year-round wardrobe staple. Her 'Festival life saver' is still going strong one year on!
We've met some incredibly inspiring and talented people since starting our Lily & Albert journey...Last time we blogged about Bob Matthews it was when he played base guitar in the band 'Right Turn Left' at an Oxjam event we sponsored in October 2009. (Yep that's right- scroll down to the Oxjam post and you'll see Bob in our very blurred photo!). Now, duo Bob Matthews and Catherine Pockson have formed 'Alpines', creating music that they call 'night pop' and we are more than impressed. 'Ice and Arrows' is our favourite track on the 'Night Drive' EP which also includes 'Drive' and we can't wait to hear the rest of 'Saviour' which is currently the soundtrack on the BBC Three advert for 'Bringing up Britain'. They've just announced that they will be performing at The Secret Garden Party and Glastonbury and the album is due to be released in Sept 2011. WE CAN'T WAIT! We're also a fan of their blog which documents fashion and art inspirations.

As I mentioned in the BNTM post, we had the chance to meet the team at Global Cool when we were at the show. Global Cool is a green lifestyle organisation that challenge people to think differently and live differently and for this campaign they want you to turn down your heating and replace it with a woolly jumper- a theory that we totally support:
'We work with celebrities and entertainment to show you how to live a greener life without sacrificing the things you enjoy.' Global Cool.
They've worked with Sienna Miller, Orlando Bloom, Leonardo DiCaprio, Dermot O'Leary, Prince Charles, Maroon 5, KT Tunstall....need I go on! We were so excited to be involved in their campaign to Turn Up the Style, Turn down the heat - Their stall was host to lots of charity shop jumpers for which you could donate £5 and then got to customise it right there and then with the expert advice of two knitwear designers from Cooperative knitwear and enjoy the sofa and biscuits!! Radio 1 dj Gemma Cairney is supporting the campaign and did an amazing job customising her Lily & Albert Cast in Stone Crew neck jumper with big pompoms- We love!
Gemma Cairney has definitely turned up the style with this customisation!
If you want to find out more about this campaign and the many others that they have going on then check out their website: http://www.globalcool.org/ and you can even enter their I Love My Jumper competition with...you guessed it...a photo of you in your favourite jumper! If yours is the favourite this week then you can win £100 French Connection vouchers! Go to the link below to enter

Between 22nd-24th October The ExCel Centre in London played host to the launch of Britains Next Top Model Live- An event that saw fashion, beauty and entertainment come together to create one of the most exciting events of the year! The popular tv show was brought to life with the models from the show performing a live catwalk show along with an incredibly talented team of dancers and if this wasn't enough, Diana Vickers opened the show on Friday with her brand new single My Wicked Heart and Eliza Doolittle sang us out on Sunday!
Emma Willis presented the KISS open catwalk in amoungst all the shoppers which included top fashion stylists revealing their inside knowledge and previews of brand new collections, whilst Models 1 passed through the crowds scouting the potential contestants for next seasons show so that they could get practicing their walks in front of the crowds! If you weren't practicing your walk for the show then you were certainly likely to be walking from stall to stall with the selection of shops available - Urban Outfitters, Nine West, Bobbi Brown, Reebok and Muubaa to name a few! Lily & Albert had a fantastic time meeting all the guests and models from the show and discovered some amazing brands such as Gina Steward Cox Jewellery and Ltd Watches. We also found an incredible charity called Global Cool which is being backed by Radio 1 dj Gemma Cairney. (More on this in the next post!). Alisha White, the runner up in the show LOVED her Cast in stone cream cardigan so much that she came back to see the rest of the collection and got herself an Old Seadog hoodie too...
and contestants Delita Cole and Olivia Oldem Stevens followed suit, grabbing themselves this winters must haves- The Cast in Stone crew neck jumper and buttoned cardigan!

Fuze 2010 had a fantastic opening night with incredible dance acts, great music and stunning fashion! This year, the Fuze 2010 comittee really created a spectacle. Lily & Albert were first up with two male models dressed in our 'Cast in Stone' knitwear, walking two sheep down the catwalk! Other fashion brands included Jack Wills, Reiss and House of Fraser all getting involved to raise money for Hope and Homes for Children, The Children's Liver Disease foundation and the Bristol Centre for Sustainable Energy. We were proud to be involved in such a fanatastic event held by students to raise money for their chosen charities. Read the Bristol Post article here
The show was a culmination of fantastic dance acts, music and fashion and has been organised and run by the students of Bristol University. Here are some sneaky shots from behind the scenes...

Pat and I ready and waiting for the fayre to begin at the Lily & Albert stall!
Lily & Albert had it's first stall of the winter at the Sunninghill Victorian Street Fayre on Sunday. The whole day was a huge success with local businesses, schools and members of the community teaming together to raise some money for local charities and make it a great day out! We hope everyone had a fantastic time and that all the Lily & Albert customers are happy with their winter warmers! We were definitely glad to be wrapped up in ours! Lily & Albert were proud to be sponsors of the Knickerbockerglory Oxjam event at the Troubadour last weekend. It was a huge success thanks to the brilliant organisers Sadie and Tash. Thanks to all the bands/acoustic acts and everyone who came along to enjoy the night and help raise money for OXFAM. Well done to the lucky tombola winners who got to wrap up warm in their Lily & Albert prizes! Jim from the headline act Right Turn Left was so pleased with his 'Catch of the day' bobble hat that he even wore it whilst playing on stage!
FUZE is an annual large scale charity event that consists of sensational dance acts and remarkable fashion.
It has been running in Bristol University for the past few years and it's reputation has been snowballing ever since it began. This year the money raised went to Breakthrough Cancer Research and Everyman charity. It was a huge success raising £10,000 and reeling in a full house every night. Lily & Albert were proud to be involved in such a fantastic event. Well done to everyone involved in making Fuze '09 an unforgettable experience!
