Lily & Albert is a luxury, unisex clothing brand, specialising in high quality, handmade, 100% wool knitwear.
The concept for the company evolved from watching fisherman's wives knitting cardigans for their husbands on the beaches along the Northern coast of Portugal. Captivated by the expertise involved in this age-old tradition and the quality produced, founder of Lily & Albert, Kathryn, bought her first fisherman’s cardigan from the artisans. All knitwear in the collection is sourced exclusively from these same fishing villages and the knitting communities surrounding them.
Lily & Albert, which launched in 2009, prides itself on the timeless and unique design of every single piece. Using the softest wool sheared from free roaming sheep, each item in the 'Cast in Stone' collection is knitted by hand, meaning no two cardigans are ever the same.
The ever growing collection also includes jumpers, blankets, slipper socks and hats, as well as a selection of cotton items for the Spring/Summer season.
'The same costume worn by separate actors in a play won't make the characters look the same, it will, in fact, make the costume look different. Actors are not mannequins and neither are our customers! This is the philosophy we have at Lily & Albert. We know that all our customers are unique and we want them to stamp their own look on our knitwear, making our clothes feel at home whether they are being worn on a catwalk or in a fishing boat!'
